For the Political Audio Addict: Road to Denver

Another reason I've not listened to the previously mentioned interview- I've got my politic on! As I imagine everyone is aware, it's presidential election season here in the USofA, and well, considering I have a political podcast of my own, I'm always searching the series of tubes for decent information that goes a bit beyond finger-pointing and sniper fire. Shelly Brisbin, host of the informative and fun podcast simply named "Shelly's Podcast", has helped in on this front. She is trying to become a delegate to the Democratic National Convention late this summer in Denver. She decided to podcast her journey, and created the podcast "Road to Denver".

Shelly lives in Texas, so it begins with her goals for the show and then goes through her experience with the caucuses, and becoming a delegate for her district. Although it's from one states perspective and guidelines, I have to say I definitely enjoy hearing a personal experience of the process, by someone whose view is clear, balanced, and objective. She's got an excellent voice too!

If politics isn't your thing, then make sure you give a listen to her other show, because either way you will not be disappointed!

It's An Audio X-Cursion!

A lot of the "old-school" audio cinema that received play on Sonic Society's awesome first season I'm happy to report are still around and kicking!

One of those groups is Bradley Phoenix's Montage Theatre. Based in New York (yo!), their audio plays vary in length. Some skits are less than a minute. Most are less than 10 minutes. He's written some 30 minute audio plays as well. They also cover several genres, from "Twilight Zone"-type plays, science fiction, Saturday Night Live-type satires, horror, mystery, and drama.

Much to this slightly-political (she says with a giggle) Addict's delight- a grouping of progressive skits and plays! I listened to a few of the shorter ones, and ohhhhhh...... me likey!

Take a listen for yourself!

Science Fiction and Politics

Now see, this is a part of science fiction I can really get into! This was a really neat interview with poltical science professor Courtney Brown. He gives his thoughts about the parallels between science fiction and politics.
Really, it's not such a big jump from fact to fiction, when you think about things such as cloning, stem cell research, or the impacts of global warming.

A very interesting listen!

Capitol Steps giving us the lighter side of politics

It has been awhile since I've listened to the awesome songs by these
Senate staffers, but I just spent a good 15 minutes catching up and laughing hysterically! They are a live troop in DC who perform and sing covers of all sorts of tunes. With their own current political spin, of course. ;-)

A few of my faves: A Leader Like Barack (tune of Leader of the Pack), Good Morning, Starbucks (tune of Good Morning Starshine), and Bomb Iran (tune of Barbara Ann- minus John McCain's spin).
